On the occasion of the May 1 ST International Labor Day in 2022, let’s revisit the touching stories of several model workers and representatives of advanced workers, approach these lofty souls and pay tribute to the great spirit of model workers.
Worker Writer-Wu Yunduo
China, the pioneer of ordnance industry in revolutionary base areas during War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, and the first generation of workers and writers in New China.
During the war years, he was injured many times, lost his left eye, and his left hand and right leg were disabled. After more than 20 operations, dozens of shrapnel remained on his body. He overcame his disability with tenacious perseverance and insisted on fighting in the front line of production and scientific research. He said: "As long as I live for one day, I will definitely work for the party and the people for one day."
Model worker of steel-Meng Tai
Mengtai loves the factory as home, and works hard. Under the situation that Angang is facing production suspension, he leads workers to carry out arduous technical research, and has solved more than a dozen technical problems one after another, filling the gap in China’s metallurgical history.
With his outstanding performance in resuming production in Angang, in 1950, Meng Tai was selected as the first batch of model workers in New China at the National Model Workers Conference.
Wang Jinxi, the Iron Man of Daqing
He led the 1205 drilling team to work hard, drilled the first oil well in Daqing Oilfield, set a world drilling record with an annual footage of 100,000 meters, showed the spirit of Daqing oil workers, made important contributions to the development of China’s oil industry, and became a banner of China’s industrial front. The "Iron Man Spirit" and "Daqing Spirit" he left behind have become precious wealth for China’s socialist construction.
Deng Jiaxian, the Father of China’s Atomic Bomb
Deng Jiaxian is the main organizer and leader of China’s nuclear weapons research and development. He has always led many scholars and technicians in China’s weapons manufacturing, successfully designed China’s atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb, and led China’s national defense and self-defense weapons to the advanced level in the world. In 1986, he was awarded the title of national model worker.
"Living Lei Feng" in 1990s-Xu Hu
In 1975, Xu Hu came to Shanghai from the suburban countryside and became an ordinary water and electricity repairman in the housing management office of Zhongshan North Road in Putuo District. "The job is to pass the toilet, repair the lights and change the wires, and repeat it every day."
On June 23rd, 1985, Xu Hu placed "special repair box for urgent repair of water and electricity" in the neighborhood committees, telephone rooms and alley entrances under its jurisdiction. After more than 10 years of nights, Xu Hudu volunteered to repair water and electricity for more than 6,000 households nearby.
Plateau Messenger-Wang Shunyou
At the age of 20, Wang Shunyou became a postman of Maban Post Road, responsible for the delivery of the post road from Muli County to Luobo Township. It takes 14 days to take a trip and two shifts a month. In a year, Wang Shunyou spends 330 days on the postal route.
Wang Shunyou is enthusiastic about passing on scientific and technological information and getting rich information for farmers and buying excellent seeds. In order to bring the people daily necessities, he was willing to detour, pay money and suffer hardships, and forged deep feelings with the people of all ethnic groups along the way.
